I liked one of the outdoor sets from Home Depot. It was reasonably priced. I ended up buying something from Costco, but that was more due to convenience than anything else.

Costco. Still going strong in the backyard and it's been 15 years.

NP here. Has anyone had experience with the IKEA patio furniture so far? Does it last? Does it require a lot of restaining? Does it splinter? The prices seem too good to be true!

Look on Craigslist. We got a great set that was only a year old (crate and barrel).

I found that Sears was the best. I looked at pretty much everything and it offered the most style and quality for the price. I went with the Ty Pennington line. Very happy with it.

I was in this position last year. Bought a nice looking set from lowes for $500 and it held up through the winter (we keep it covered).

I vote for four plus two folding chairs. If you have a tiny back yard you don't want to be tripping over two extra chairs all the time.
