If you want to try counseling, go for EFT couples therapy. All couples have a cycle of interaction and conflict management that won't fix itself. If you haven't given up on him completely, it helps confront this directly.

Second recommendation for Gottman's books. They'll help you and your DH sort out the resolvable from the perpetual conflicts.
