Kiwi. It is a heavy producer. I always make kiwi jam late in the year.

Figs are very easy, really the easiest fruit there is. The variety Brown Turkey is good for this area. Just throw it in the ground in full sun and wait a few years. They don't like these polar vortex winters, though, and will probably die to the ground years that are that bad. They come back from the roots. They produce fruit on new wood - the branches it grows in the spring. The figs form in the late spring and are ready late summer into fall. You know they are ripe when they start to hang with a bend in the stem rather than sticking out horozontally. We just eat them straight from the tree, but you can also make jam.

Can someone tell me more about the fig trees. How hard are they to grow and what do you do with the figs?

We are planting an apricot tree this year. Do any of you have any experience. We also have blueberry bushes (agree that the birds eat most of them and strawberries.
