I have a 14 y.o. In 9 th grade. We have a good relations so far (she doesn't have her period yet, so I am not sure if this is going to change). I can't give general advise, but will be happy to answer any questions. The only thing that I noticed, I have to step back a little bit and let her make her own decisions. I keep reminding myself to give her room to grow, but to be there for her when she needs me.

NP. But this NEVER EVER happens!!! Obviously, DD does some homework, but not well and not consistently.

So don't praise homework. Praise her fashion creativity/risks. Praise her nail polish skills. Praise her handstands. Praise her group of friends. Find SOMETHING.

NP: To whomever wrote this unhelpful bit of advice: And how old are your children? Do you even have children?
