He has tonsilstones. my daughter had it. HOrrible breath. We complained to pediatriciaan, gastroenterologist and not one of them thought to look at her tonsils.

I have bad breath fairly often and I don't have tonsils. They were removed when I was young. How could I have tonsil stones?


OP here- How do you know that your breath is bad? My husband is always surprised when I mention it. I have told him enough times that he knows it's an ongoing problem, but he thinks that if he brushes his teeth it goes away, but it doesn't. It just becomes minty bad breath. I wish that he could smell it himself.

He always had gum or mints when we dated. I thought that it was just bad sometimes (which I was okay with), I did not realize that it was a chronic problem. Also, I think that it has gotten progressively worse over the years. We have been married for 18 years.

Yes, we kiss plenty. I don't know how I deal with it (shrug) I just figure it's my responsibility to keep her happy since I love her. It's really hard at times though. I always face the other way when sleeping. Many times I have to pull the covers over my head to block it out. I'm just really dumbfounded why her Dentist and Doctors have never said anything. She's a knock out beautiful woman with the worst breath in the Country.


OP Here: OMG, I do the same thing at night! I have the covers totally over my head facing the other way. I keep a small opening from which I breathe.

Dentists don't deal with throat issues. Most of the time your tongue is covering the throat anyways.

What does the dentist say? What do your friends and family say privately? Are you the only person bothered by this?

My sympathies are with you. I have a dear friend with breath like you describe. I was in the car with her a few days ago and I was actually dizzy from the smell of it. Oh please find a way of speaking with her - poor thing.

My DH can get bad too - he is really affected by what he eats. Garlicky items just STAY with him. Flossing, tongue brushing, rinsing all must be done super-diligently and he has to watch what he eats. "Hay babe you're super garlicky today" is an appreciated and well-worn saying in our house

OP - have you told him how hard this is in you?

What 's his diet like? My husband used to complain that I had horrid breath. I ended up changing my diet after a health scare (previously lots of processed junk and sweets) and my breath is much better now. He now rarely complains.
