I pulled my twins. They tell you it’s 25 kids to 1 teacher but each class shares a rotating aide. It was too much. 2019, I pulled my kids after Thanksgiving break. Please don’t choose it thinking you are getting than your in bound. They take 25 per grade and for K and one teacher, it was too much. Wasn’t my cup of tea.

Interesting to see the whole "we overcome CMIT" mentality because I had the opposite experience. My child came from our neighborhood school in Laurel. She entered CMIT at 3rd grade. Immediately, they challenged my daughter and suggested her for the TAG pull out program. She's been able to participate in robotics competitions, do coding classes and hone her skills in STEM all before the age of 10. She's leaving elementary this year and got accepted to two of the top big 3 private schools in DC. I've been satisfied with the education my child got at CMIT and commend the hard work of the teachers. No school is perfect and I had times where I felt frustrated but overall they did wonders that my neighborhood school wasn't providing. Thank you CMIT!

CMIT Elementary is very much like what the other comments have stated. Lack of professionalism. Incompetent teaching. Overall there seems to be little or no concern for the students. My child is highly intelligent and loves science; however, teaching a child needs to be a priority. Teachers appear to be bothered by the questions that stem from young learners who are eager to learn at a young age. There is no structure. Teachers are non-interested in engaging with the children. Administration (who? ). Worst mistake ever. Don't send your young learners here until there are some major changes.

I am a current (proud) parent of CMIT kindergartner. I was fortunate enough to have a great teacher for my son this year. She was responsive to me quickly, whenever I needed to communicate with her I received a quick enough response. My son does fine academically and enjoys learning but has an IEP still, and is working to overcome his speech delays. In spite of all this HE truly loves the very rigorous environment of the school, and seems to be excelling. Yes, it is A LOT of work for a kindergartner! This school I don't believe is for all children, if they are used to the Montessori style of play and no grades, then this is NOT the school for your child. My son's friend did not have such a great experience this year with a different teacher and is giving CMIT one last try next year before deciding herself to pull him out. So as is the case in ALL schools you can have a great program but the teachers are the one's who truly make the difference. I'm confident that my son will be used to this level of work load, and will hopefully be successful as he moves up the ranks and into his middle school years as STEM scholar. This is his natural tendency, he enjoys it here...and so far he shall remain.

Past parent of a Kindergartener @ CMIT elementary (as of a week ago) we opted to pull my DD mid year. DD personality was being stifled, not enough play or down time, children were consistently yelled at, TOO much worksheets, not enough hands on learning, unruly children, not enough teacher- student interaction, my child regularly complained of being "shooed away" NO diversity, Also had a terrible experience with the school's STUDENT SHUTTLE Transportation-- who they say are not affiliated with the school, but refer you to. I could go on... The facility is new, state of the art, but wasn't enough. Upon coming into school my child was tested and scored poorly, although she is advanced in many areas, verbal reasoning, math computation, etc etc.. I pulled her and she is a week in at at Private in MOCO (BTW her Wechsler results were through the roof) we are very pleased thus far--Active teaching, less chaos, amazing personalized attention for my child, 11kids vs almost 30, great correspondence between teacher & parent , 2 recesses, Spanish, science lab etc.

Many families are content with CMIT being that it's slim pickings for PG, for our family just had higher standards and couldn't bear my child's unhappiness. It was a challenging, emotional experience withdrawing mid year, but we overcame!
