I sort of agree with you as if you ask random aspirational people they might say Georgetown simply because the don't know the other areas. Ask people with money and a fraction decide to stay in the city (a lot of foreigners, state and corporate entities own many of the estate level DC proper properties) with the many choosing the afore mentioned communities. My vote would be Bradley Estates, it's very nice but there are sections of Potomac and mcLean that are just as nice.
Spring Valley has a simply stunning concentration of movers and shakers too.
