It is relevant to me because I have a job that is going nowhere, underpaid, and causing significant family challenges for child care, and I've decided to quit it. I guess I was looking to hear that others might do the same thing in the situation. I think there's something better out there for me to be doing.
If I was in your situation, then yes, I would either quit or look for something that interested me more.
I happen to *like* my job (not love, but like) but I am paid decently (GS-14) and can work from home (5 days a week) so I have a lot of flexibility. If I didn't need the money, I would *probably* not work, but it depends on what you mean by not needed the money - ie if I suddenly won the lottery (which I don't play) - then no, I wouldn't work. If it means we would be able to pay our bills enough to be comfortable, but not have much extra (for savings, college, vacations etc) then yes, I would stay. If it is somewhere in between, it would depend on the scenario.
