I really like almond milk. I'm allergic to real milk and I was pleasantly surprised at how good almond milk tastes.

The hot chocolate that comes in packets always contains powdered milk. When you check the instructions, you'll see that they only call for 6 oz. of water (3/4 cup). If you're filling up the mug to the top, you're adding way too much water. Using milk is a good solution, or just use two packets if you want a full mug of it.

I prefer water. I just like it thin. If it's with milk, I'll drink it but a little to thick for my taste. I'm just weird and I accept that.

Thanks for your story. It still doesn't validate using water instead of milk.

Why is Ovaltine disgusting? And she's not being a snob about the packets, she's being a snob about water.

The point is that you still can enjoy hot chocolate if you milk intolerant or watching your calories.

I make mine with milk, cocoa, sugar. Will add a little vanilla or a marshmallow if available. Everyone in my family loves it

My nieces didn't like my homemade cocoa, because they had never had it with milk. Sad.

Take a spoonful of cocoa powder a slightly bigger spoonful of sugar and a dash if salt and put it in a mug with a little bit of water (or leftover coffee) Microwave for 30 seconds and then stir until all the cocoa is dissolved (nuking for a few more seconds if you need to) . Add milk to fill the mug and then nuke for 1-2 minutes, depending on your mug size. Stir.

+ a little drop of vanilla, and yum.

Yum. I do this once in a while too.

I don't like watery chic milk, either. We use whole milk and add whipped cream on top for good measure.
