My DH pretty much clears all the sidewalks on our block and does the driveways for the elderly...to include aprons. He does not expect anything, although he really appreciates the recognition, even if it a simple "thank you". That said, we have received wine, six pack of beer, and Girl Scout cookies after the last.storm. Don't know if we will get anything after today. He does not care as it makes him feel good to help out.

My husband clears our neighbor's driveways and they always bring him cookies. He loves it.

I make things from scratch and send it over. Bless that man with the snow blower!

I recently helped a widow (women) shovel her driveway (I'm a mother). I felt moved to help her. I expected nothing in return and got a lot of internal joy from going over to help her. She said thank you and that was enough!

He didn't need to since your Dh was in progress. And you certainly didn't ask your neighbor to help.

Plus, people with snow blowers love walking around wither instantly gratifying snow removal machine. It's a guy thing I suppose.

So true- there are so few opportunities to use a snow blower around here and it's so much easier than shovelling!

I mean, if you wanted to bring me wine or cookies or coffee beans I wouldn't say no. But it's way out of proportion. I'm just being neighborly.

Also, do it later, don't come out now. It's cold for you, and I just want to get my 5 houses done quickly.

+1. We always shovel for our elderly next store neighbor (unless the neighbors on the other side get to it first). She'll often give us a bottle of wine but it's totally not necessary- if my grandma were in the same situation is hope someone would help her out too!

I would call for beer over wine personally

Or cookies, because some people (for example, me) like cookies but don't like fudge.
