I love anything by Lara Vapnyar.

I also enjoyed Eric Ripert's memoir 32 Yolks.

I'm reading this now based on a recommendation in the book forum. There are recipes in the back. Already planning on trying out a few!

+1,000,000. Heat by Bill Buford is great too. I also recommend Blood, Bones, and Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton and Julie and Julia by Julie Powell.

We can be friends - my first thoughts were also Heat and Blood, Bones, and Butter, quickly followed by Kitchen Confidential. Oddly, I haven't read J&J.

Yup. I haven't read J&J either. But the other three are the Trinity.

Kind of like Jesus, Elvis, and John Wayne, riding off into the Sunset of Destiny, watched over by the spirit of Hank Sr.
