I don't understand -- Christianity is an extremely liberal religion. There's absolutely nothing remarkable about a liberal professing Christian faith.
+1 Another liberal Christian here. They key aspects of the political left are much more in alignment with the actual teachings of Christ than are those on the political right. e.g. help the poor, care for the sick, etc.
Correct. But you also can't abort babies and marry someone of the same sex or divorce your opposite sex party.
It's not always easy.
Pls cite verses where Jesus himself addresses abortion and gay marriage. Since we're talking about Jesus' actual teachings and works, not interpretations from OT.
And btw divorce is not a liberals-only phenomenon.

And the Christian Left has a powerful voice in Anne Lamott, who staked out that territory long ago. Nothing to see here.
There are many out there with voices, some questionable.
PP again. And some Christian liberals are conservative when it comes to gay marriage.Anonymous wrote:Tony Campolo is a pastor, sociologist, AND liberal. He's well respected and a thoughtful, intellectual teacher.Anonymous wrote:Liberal AND Christian, here!

Christianity is based on the premise that nobody is good but God. It is entirely personal. The proof is how much time and effort we spend personally helping and thinking of others (not family members) compared to ourselves. That is a embarrassing ratio for me and everybody I know of. I'm sure it will be brought up at the judgement.
I don't think you understand Christianity at all. You certainly haven't demonstrated an understanding of the tenets here. Why are you commenting at all about things you know nothing about? If you wish to learn more, you're welcome on Sunday morning. But you're embarrassing yourself with this post.

I think the author's premise is that there is this conservative thought that only they are God's only chosen ones, and a professed liberal who is a believer is an anomaly.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Jesus would be excoriated on this forum. I have always associated Christianity with extreme liberalism. I'm not sure I even understand the premise of the article or OP's subject line. "Coming out" is an empowering gesture. But for a liberal to proclaim Christian faith -- that would really be a non-event and unsurprising.
