I was forced to take my kid to a psychologist because he couldn't pass the 5th grade standardized writing test. Yes, the school told us to do that. Why? Because he threatened to kill himself if he had to take the test. In 5th grade.
I wish I had known about opt out (there was no such movement back then). He was forced to take the test. I can't tell you how stressful that whole year was for him and us.
I could care less whether he passes or fails on this stuff. I know that he is improving and that's all I need to know.
And you can tell me until the cows come home that this was the fault of my school. NO. It was the fault of a system that punishes schools based on their test scores. The pressure on the school was intense. Now they want to put that on the teachers. Hell no.

The answers are slowly coming out. Did you read the Forbes article that was posted on the other thread?
Also, yes, let's give teachers time to help change these standards. There are some big reasons why they are not working out in the schools. And let's stop the testing RIGHT AWAY until we can refine the whole implementation process. Wouldn't you agree that it's not fair to test kids in so many schools where the standards are not being implemented well? The kids don't understand why they are failing. It's a mess.

So answer it again. Please provide one "developmentally inappropriate" standard, and explain specifically how it is so far out of reach. Just ONE standard.

That's more about the way that her particular school chooses to implement it. Not all schools do it that way, nor do they have to do it that way.

And why in the hell is she doing this while she's driving? Shouldn't she be paying attention to the road?
You would be surprised at how many schools do it that way. How else can you test when you have one computer lab and all the kids have to cycle through it?
