Yes I'm just sad we live so far away so the kids don't get to see her or my parents for that matter very often.

I don't miss her, but I'm always glad to see her (not that often) and vice versa.

My FIL has been dead almost four years now and I miss him whenever the family gets together.

Very sorry for your loss, PP. She must've really touched your life in a positive way.

She did. She was a kind, accepting, person who made me feel welcome in her home and accepted people just as they were -- pretty much the opposite of my family. She kept her family together and now they've blown to the four winds. Sigh.

Mine is dead too, and despite the fact that I didn't always see eye to eye with her I do miss her on occasion. She was definitely the glue in the family, which has become less close. And she could talk to just about anyone-a useful skill at awkward family dinners.

My MIL was like this, and when she died, I had a bit of an internal crisis: why am I sticking around with this guy when the thing I liked best about him was his mom, and now she's DEAD?

That's a tough one.

I wish I did. I wish I had a warm relationship with my MIL. I don't miss her and I rarely think about her.

I actually do miss the mother of an old long-term boyfriend. Much more than I miss the boyfriend. I miss my own grandmothers every single day.

I'm sorry he's a jerk, but glad that you have her to support you!

And get her an international cell phone for her next trip

Aw, it's sad to hear that they weren't able to maintain their connections. Maybe in the future. I'm sure she inspires you.

Me again, my MIL is out of the country with no cell phone service and I miss her like crazy, I can't wait until she gets back and I can talk to her.

No.

I don't dislike her but definitely don't miss her.

Nope. But that's bc I see her regularly. I am hoping as my baby gets older I'll value her more as a grandmother. Currently she drives me insane, but hopefully my daughter loving her will help me feel warmer towards her...we'll see.
