He is doing something very wrong if he is spending $4800 a year on clothes. What a waste. Of money, of clothing, of the opportunity to teach money management, etc.

DS spends about $400 a month on clothes. Most of his clothes are from Costco, target, or Old Navy but he needs clothes for cycling and triathlons and that's expensive.

My DD (in HS) gets $100 a month on a debit card as an allowance for clothing, entertainment, snacks and incidentals. I pay for her school uniforms, underwear, one pair of school shoes, one pair of athletic shoes and a winter coat. The rest is hers to budget for and pay for. So far she has been more than prudent with it.
