I did this for my DH on our 10 year anniversary. He loved it. It actually helped get us start to be more intimate with each other after being on a hiatus.

Yep. Our needs are pretty basic. Assume that if there was something material that we needed, we would've already bought it. Also assume that if there is something we aren't getting, we will find a way to get it (with or without you). If you spend enough time on DCUM, you will figure that out.


I disagree some men such as my husband don't like shopping or spending money on themselves even it's something they want. Unless you are rich or a spendthrift what person goes out and buys every single thing they want?

I bought my husband two tickets too see a football game he really wanted to see and he took his dad with him and loved it. He still talks about that game.

Another year we stayed in a nice hotel in DC and put the kids with a babysitter for the night. We went happy hour and then to a popular club that night.

Is your DH into clothing or jewelry? I bought my Dh an somewhat expensive watch and he loved it. He also loves when I buy him clothes and shoes.

My husband and I don't believe in gifts. We give experiences.

For example, he surprised me with a night away at the Capella Hotel in Georgetown and dinner at my favorite restaurant (which also happens to be the first fancy meal we had together when he was a grad student and I was a 23-year old teacher making pennies) for my birthday. It was really nice.
