There is no equivalent for The Love Boat. Sorry. I have to say- I'd love for a remake of Love Boat and Fantasy Island with the caveat that they'd have to be full camp and not "updated" versions of the show.
That being said- Is there any greater argument for unlimited screen time for your kids than Love Boat and Fantasy Island? If anything could cause dain bramage, it'd have to be that weekly, two-hour fix of television goodness.

Fantasy island used to creep me out too! But I loved that my mom was so engrossed in it that she never bothered to make me go to bed even though she didn't want me to watch it (Apparently, Love Boat and Dukes of Hazzard were ok for a kid).

I loved babysitting on Saturday nights because of the Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Was there anything on consistently in the 8 pm slot? I don't remember, but probably because the kids I babysat were still awake. But by 9, they were in bed, I had cleaned up dinner and was tidying up and folding the one load of laundry I was asked to do for the kids. I usually had a quick nap 11-11:30 until the parents came home and the dad drove me home. I think the couple did ballroom dancing evenings.
