Well this list is the top 100. I imagine there are many many more elementary schools in the state. So top 100 is pretty good.

The US News methodology can be questioned, but it's far more objective and fact-based than the Niche rankings, which are totally bogus.

Oh no! This is awful!

I can't believe my kid doesn't go to a TOP TEN ES! This must mean my local ES sux eggs.

She's doomed to failure! What have I done? Is it too late to get her into a TOP THREE PS? Or is it TOP FIVE? I'm so confused! Will she ever make it into the TOP ONE PRCENT of all U.S earners?

Who are some of the TOP children's psychologists I can call to help her deal with this? What about TOP children's tutoring -- are Sylva and Tabtor any good or is Kumon really the TOPS?

Effin' 'ell, I've already missed the deadline to get her into a TOP summer camp like Holton Arms!! She might have to spend the summer at the Y (shudder).

I wouldn't put too much weight on these rankings. There are tons of websites out there that rank schools and most use questionable research methodology.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first year that "Niche" has ranked elementary schools. I'm no statistician, but I know that you need to use the same methodology over time to see a trend.

In the another thread, people are lamenting standardized testing in ES, and I mentioned if we did away with these in ES then what would parents use to gauge which schools are best? What would DCUMers use to compare schools? Op just proved my point.

Yea, I know, this ranking included "opinions". OK, but even in the "best" schools you'll have people who are very unhappy be very vocal about their opinions.

Three years ago while looking for a home in Ellicott City for better schools -- then someone told me to look at US New High School ranking. Most top Maryland high schools are in MoCo. I changed mind and settled in MoCo.

I think US News is more reliable source.

It's sad that Montgomery County schools are not on a list of elementary schools ranked according to some dubious methodology that may or may not mean anything at all? I don't feel very sad.

She doesn't have to move to Ellicott City she just needs to move to Germantown to attend the highest ranked MoCo elementary school according to that list - Ronald McNair. It's ranked 11 so just outside the top 10

Or they could attend Goshen ES. Goshen ES sends the largest contingent of students to Clearspring ES HGC each year - and it is not even on the list.
