My five year old went 10 days last summer and loved it. (Also went to Sidwell/Burgundy Farms camps)

No friends were with DC but new ones were made, counsellors were attentive and the freedom to choose activities was key. We will return!

Did a specialized camp at St. Stephens before and did a couple days at Steve and Kates -my child was 10. St. Stephens was less kids, less chaotic, and of course since it was specialized it had a main focus for the camp for the week. Steve and Kate's was ok but better for younger kids then older - I think 8 yrs old would be the max. It was more crowded in activities and a bit more chaotic but there was always a choice to go outside. they limit the rooms the camp can use. Also, the activities were kind of set per room and my child kind of got bored with them - again likely her age.

I seem to recall they said they had core staff and then if they needed extra they had on call staff. Staffing ratios for school age kids is higher - something like 20 kids to 1 adult also.

The alexandrua location was too crowded last year. We went for the coding studio and my kids never got in the room!!

We checked out the Alexandria location. For younger kids, it seems great. I did think their indoor spaces were pretty cramped for the number of kids they have but overall it seemed like a very good option at least for kids under 8.

My DD is enjoying it, she says Steve and Kate's is great! She has made brad, videos, and played a lot outside. She doesn't like all the food but I love not having to make lunch. And so great that you can add on days whenever you want.

Whats is the deal with changing locations every year? Will they be in these spots for good now?

My 9 year old is going for 3 days this year in Alexandria (has gone 1 so far), she went for a few days last year as well. I truly hope they expand into N. Arlington, Falls Church, or Mclean next year - she'd be going all the time next year - she loves it.
