I could be wrong, but I don't think many Asian families would expose their families to the type of publicity that the white student's have sought here. They'd view the whole episode as embarassing and try to avoid the media.
I get what you're trying to say, but still kind of a broad brush generalization. From reading the story about this particularly student, she seems like an extreme example regardless of race/ethnicity. Vast majority of people would not want to subject themselves to this kind of publicity, imo.
