OP, thanks for this. I have a low HHI and attended a state school, so it's reassuring to know that rich, Ivy-educated people are much less intelligent than me.

You will be wealthier if you "lower your economic expectations."

We have HHI in the low 7 figures. While our professional and local neighborhood social circle tend to gravitate towards more successful people like doctors, lawyers, and other business owners, we still hold on to many friends from back when we made much less. Also, our kids attend good public schools, and their classmates mostly come from families far lower in HHI. Play dates, birthday parties, summer cookouts and pool parties, are all cases where we interact with a broad spectrum of families. I find that if you treat people with the respect they've earned based on their actions and not how much they make, you won't feel awkward because they will respect you in return.

OP makes no sense. i can't even fathom the logical jump it takes to get from having lower income friends to having low income "expectations" for yourself.
