I'd wager a guess that most of the people posting in this thread are women so we are indeed familiar. And if this behavior seems like HS (or less) to us then what does that tell you about yourself and the women you hang around? Life doesn't have to be full of drama over an obstacle course race.

We are being assholes because the OP is clearly judging the woman for being divorced, childless, and omg LARGE. None of this is relevant to the fact that the woman is causing a rift in the friend circle, yet OP feels it necessary to point out these horrific traits because how dare a DIVORCED FAT woman act like this.

OP - the woman probably picks up on your judgment of her and is acting rationally in trying to keep the good people in your circle and get the petite, judgey, bitchy, sticks in the mud out

Everyone but you pretty much came to the conclusion OP is being a snot.

She sounds kind of pushy.

I've never seen the appeal of the mud runs. I also don't see the appeal of all these random 5K color runs, etc. (though the zombie run sounds hilarious.) I am a very active person and an avid runner, so people often ask me to do these types of things with them. Some of them are newer runners and they are REALLY zealous about running in they way that the newly converted often seem to be. I just say, "i'm not really into that, but I look forward to seeing the pics and hearing all about your race!" and then I ask them about it afterward. Nobody has shunned me yet.

You may be coming off as overly harsh or judgmental in your condemnation of these races and the people doing them.

For the record a 5'4 woman weighing 125 who doesn't have muscle (as you repeatedly say you don't) is kinda pudgy. Not dainty and petite. Just FYI.

OP, are you normally this worried about mud and getting dirty, or is it only when large women are involved?

Op, I can't do these types of events due to knee issues, but several of my friends love them. I may roll my eyes at some of the themes, but if I'm able to, I along with other non participating friends go to cheer them on and then go out for drinks after. We've even gone on a weekend long trip where they've been competing and we've had a blast. They also are supporters for activities we do.

I thinK your disdain for these events and thus woman are showing much more than you realize, and that's what's creating the issue.

I have never shown contempt for my friends. Not everyone is physically able to compete in a muddy obstacle course and not every one wants to.
