I'm part of a same sex couple and we had consults at SG and CFA before we ultimately decided on CFA. We had a couple odd comments during our consult, I couldn't justify giving a company tens of thousands of dollars if I was going to walk away from appointments feeling weird.

However, your mileage may vary and it may be great for you. It's true that all of the local practices seem to intend to be friendly towards non-traditional families. I think you just have to be prepared for the occasional odd interaction.

Really? I went to shady grove for three different appointments when I first started my treatments and every time I was asked by the front desk if my husband would be joining me for my appointments. I get the first one because I didn't have a file yet, but the second and third time was enough for me to say see you later.

This is weird. I hope they have a good reason for asking, let alone asking repeatedly. DH was present when absolutely needed, but I never asked him to show up for moral support etc. Too many logistical hurdles, it was just easier to do it on my own. I have not been asked once about him.

The front desk isn't going to look thru your file each time you walk up. Odd expectation. But obviously they should be trained not to make those types of assumptions.

Personally I wouldn't leave a clinic because of a front desk person.

As a gay person who was single and partnered thru my experience with SG, I have found them good in that regard. Can't say whether someone said something once off bc that doesn't always stick with me - it's my life as a gay person, from the pool guy to electrician to the daycare to the insurance agent and on and on and on.
