This blazer is cool. Plus she could wear it as an inbetween season coat...

For the record, OP, my DD age 15 has recently decided to only wear suits. It looks awesome and she gets tons of complements. She'll wear a colored button-down, black blazer and pants, and cool shoes. I wish I could see your DD at this wedding!

I think they max out at size 6.

OP here. Thank you, DCUM! This has been a very productive discussion, and now I have all sorts of ideas I never would have come up with on my own. Thank you!

Anything that I would call a "blouse" probably wouldn't pass muster.

OP here. I was thinking a suit would be best because she needs to dress up and won't wear a dress or anything really girly. She hates things like leggings, tights, skirts, dresses, and although I could probably force her to wear something more traditional, I don't really see the point. If I can find something she likes, that isn't too expensive, and that won't attract negative attention, I don't see why she needs to wear a dress. An 8 year old boy might get away with khakis and a buttondown, but I don't think that is dressy enough for a girl.

You seem put off by my suggestions. She doesn't need to wear a dress or khakis and buttondown! Personally, I don't love a traditional suit for boy or girl so I suggested skinny black pants and JCrew as an example. Sorry if you took offense.

OP here. No offense taken at all! I was just explaining more.

OP again. LOVE this idea. Going to look on ebay for something similar (and cheaper)! Thanks, PP!

Is it a black tie event or a formal wedding?

If it is a black tie - an 8 year old boy would not get away with khakis and a buttondown. If it is a formal event - he should wear a jacket and tie.

OP here. It is formal, and I agree that even a boy should not wear simply khakis and a buttondown to a formal event, although people do it.

You might also try tinytux.com. They have a huge assortment of different stuff, including things like sky blue tuxes, tux shirts, vests, etc. A tux shirt with velvet pants would be super cute, i think. Good luck.
