My last few J. crew perfect tees have developed holes in the stitching after wearing less than a year. Beautiful colors though.

I've had surprising success with Banana Republic's plain cotton tees. They run small though.

J Jill also makes some nice pima cotton t shirts

I think cotton prices have gone up- read that somewhere- so retailers have been making tshirts more cheaply in the last several years. I have two old navy white v neck ts that I have had for at least 10 years and they are so thick compared to the crap out there now. I've washed/bleached them repeatedly over the years and they still look fine.

Some Tshirts are cut so horribly they just rub up against your armpit. I cannot stand those. That could be the issue. I much prefer a cap sleeve or tank when it is warm, if it's appropriate. so now we have 2 requirements. Thick Tees that look flattering and are cut under the arm in a comfy way.

Try J. Crew perfect fit tees. They are thicker.

I have a bunch of Boden long sleeve plain tees and they're nice and thick.

I hate layering tshirts. Seems so redundant.

Modal is a cheap, horrible fabric that's impossible to clean. Even after a wash in hot water, multiple times, deoderant or bodu odor stains do not come out

Grrrr. I hate that. Who the heck wants see through, flab emphasizing material - not me. I guess the clothing manufactures really want to sell us on layering - first put on your padded bra, then your spanx, then your tank, then finally your shirt. By the time you're done, you are armored enough to go out on the football field.

This is why I have no white tees. I can't find one that's not see through, even with a nude bra. I'll try lands end this year.

I love Caslon. I have a hard to color body. I am 5'8" with a small waist, larger hips and a long torso. I almost always have to wear a tank under any shirt to aquire the right length. I can wear just the one shirt when it comes to Caslon. Not just because it's thicker, but also because they come in a nice length too.

+1000 Just returned an entire online order because each one was too thin and cheap looking. Ugh! I really wish they would offer the thicker, non-recession version as an option, even though it would be higher priced.
