I don't think egg freezing has been around that long. Embryo freezing, yes, but I doubt they were able to freeze their eggs 10 years beforehand (I think Halle Berry was pregnant at 48, so freezing her eggs a couple of years before that probably wouldn't have yielded good results).

I have a strong suspicion it was donor egg. If not, it took lots and lots and lots and lots of money. Sure if you do enough cycles you might be able to find 1 good egg. But can you afford 10-20 cycles?

Only way you'll know your chance is to see a RE and find out your numbers. If your numbers aren't good, go straight to DE.
We had to go through the process, but we started when I was 40 and my numbers weren't great. But I had hope. So we did 5 IUI's, 2 IVF's (1- 2 eggs, 2 transfered; 2- 3 eggs, 0 transfered) and many many medicated TI cycles. And all BFN. It wasnt until I was 44 and did DE that I got my BFP.

If you don't have the money to keep trying, go straight to DE.

I agree with 14:08. How many read and respond in this forum? Plus, this is only mostly IVF-ers. General population will paint a different scenario.

I'm 46 and pregnant with NCIVF because of male factor and my advanced age, definitely agree with PP's that recommend seeing and RE.

Pregnant naturally at 43 after 9 IVF cycles resulted in nothing but an ectopic, miscarriages, or nothing. Delivered DS right after 44th birthday. It can happen, but I wouldn't wait!

The truth is that you may find slightly less success stories on this particular forum than if you polled the general population, because women posting here are having problems. The women who accidentally got pregnant in their 40s, or who never used ART to conceive, will not be reading/posting here, with some exceptions from women who continue to read this.....just a thought, since you asked for success stories in particular.

I did IVF at 41 once, retrieved 30 eggs, transferred two embryos, currently 25ww pregnant with a singleton and have 9 embryos on ice. I will say that I had excellent numbers and generally am somewhat of an outlier. But it's possible to have IVF success at your 40s. But you have to move RIGHT NOW.

I got pregnant with my own eggs at 41 (baby born at 42) after several failed IUIs. My numbers were great though and we were dealing with male factor - low counts. In hindsight I wish we we would have skipped the 6 IUIs prior and gone straight to IVF.

My FSH and AMH levels at 41 are like those of someone in her early thirties. However based on genetic testing, it looks like my egg quality isn't all that great. So numbers don't necessarily give you the whole picture.

Just wanted to clarify as the pp who used the term " egg quality". My doctor used that term when he referred to my FSH and AMH levels and I was under the impression that they were correlated with the egg's chances of becoming a viable embryo and that my ovarian reserve indicated the quantity of eggs I could produce ....i could have completely misunderstood and am sorry for any confusion

I'm in the same boat - 43 yo with.a 4 yo. I did 3 IUIs, 2 IVFs and conceived naturally (and miscarried) twice in the quest for baby #2. We're now starting the DE process. I wish I hadn't wasted my time on the IUIs. IVFs were probably a waste too, but I needed to go through the process.

First child was easy, delivered at 40. Second required help and came via DE at 45. Go straight to DE if you want the quickest result, smallest age gap, best return on your investment. Frozen is even faster than fresh.
