If you like Stacey, go with Stacey! Who cares what everyone else things? My only thing: spell is correctly. Don't get cute with spelling because your child will deal with that for the REST OF THEIR LIFE. Stacey.

Yes, I'm also from the Stacy generation (just barely), but Stacy is a name I never liked. All of the Stacys I've met have been perfectly nice, though!

How about Tracy? (Please don't ask me to explain why I don't like Stacy but think Tracy is fine, because I can't.)

Or you could be literary and use Tacy as a nickname for Anastasia. Maybe there would be a little girl with the nickname of Betsy who lived across the street.

Nobody will think of Albert Anastasia b/c no one has ever heard of him. However, they might think of Anastasia from Fifty Shades of Grey or Anastasia from the Disney movie. But, who cares? It's a beautiful name! Plus, if your DD doesn't like Stacy, she has lots of other choices (Anastasia, Ana, Stasia, etc.)

Fwiw, I was the one who made the biggest snob comment. One of the absolute most adorable and sweet people I know also has this name. But the snob ruins it.

And I frankly just don't like this name or think it should make a comeback.

I know a Stacy who is really nice, but it's one of those names which is kind of dated.

A name should be a title one would present in a formal setting. It can be shortened during childhood, but it should be an adult's name. An adult should not have to live with a cute name only appropriate for a popular eight year old.
