Oh, please! Sounds like an active kid. My 14 year old and even 16 year old still won't wear them. They say they're stiff and hard to move in. They live in Adidas Tyro soccer pants, which is fine with me since they've warm, fit well and made out of great material. Makes the high schooler in particular kind of uncool, but so what, he's happy and has plenty of time to worry about what everyone thinks of him. When we go out they wear khakis or nice pants. Not worth the battle otherwise. Plus, saving money on expensive clothes they'll outgrow anyway.

NOT. Jeans are so uncomfortable, why would an active kid wear jeans.

11 and 9 year old boys....wear them constantly. Used to wear jeans, then it was all about performance fabric and comfort....that, and being able to run faster in gym class.....in which case they also wear shorts under their pants so they can be ready.

Yep, my DS 10 only wears athletic pants and shorts. He wears khakis for church and special dress up occasions, but has NEVER worn jeans. He had hand me down jeans he wore one time and said never again back when he was 5 or 6. I think the jeans of our day has become the athletic pants of today. I have not seen a single 4th grade boy in jeans at our school - McLean area.

My son is 7 and began to resist anything but athletic pants at the start of the school year.

One day in the car line, I watched all the kids getting on the bus. 80% of the boys were wearing some kind of athletic pants. (If it matters, this school is in a pretty nice area.)

Based on that, I decided not to fight this battle. It's fine. If anything, I've found that the athletic pants are holding up better than most other pants DS used to wear and get holes in the knees.

He still has a navy pair of actual pants that he can wear to recitals, etc. No need for jeans unless we move to a farm maybe.

Nope. My parents gave me little say in what I wore growing up. My kids consequently have almost every say in what they wear growing up. DC is probably wanting to wear what others his age wear, OP. As for me, at this point in my life, I would rather be dead than care what the miserable suburban hags think. Besides, their DHs LOVE my yoga pants.

my sons wear athletic pants all the time; and the older they get, the more they switch to shorts, even in the winter!

My son has not worn anything but athletic pants since 3rd grade. He does have a pair of khaki pants for a few nice occasions and a pair of black pants for his school concert.
