Is South Beach family friendly?

Is Little Havana worth a visit? We'll be staying in South Beach, without a car.

No colleges are out for spring break I n April. Most are in early to mid March.

We spent 5 days in Miami last week (in South Beach) and had a great time! Uber was SO much cheaper than a taxi, drivers were all knowledgable and friendly, cars were incredibly clean. To give you an idea we took a cab from our hotel to the South Pointe Pier, which was $10 including tip, and an Uber on the way back was $6 (with tip).

We just enjoyed exploring the area, the outdoor mall on Lincoln road was fun in the evening.

Just got back from five days in Miami. Please be aware that Uber is very active there & was extremely convenient & affordable!

A group of us had a bunch of time to kill between flights--took the train to within a few blocks of Vizcaya, walked over to wander around the grounds, have lunch. Very cool spot!

I suggest staying on south beach on an ocean drive hotel ( Hilton, Marriott, Loews or a smaller boutique Delano etc.) it's not too rowdy, it has a gorgeous beach and great restaurants. I suggest zuma in brickell ( take a cab from the beach) prime 112 on sobe, the smith and wollensky has an amazing view and is a lot of fun. We love to go to key biscayne to the state park for the gorgeous beach and to rent hobie cats to sail around in. If you stay on sobe, you don't have to go to calle Ocho for Cuban food. There is a cafe versaille in the airport and you can walk to Porto sagua on sobe or even bongos on ocean drve- just be sure to order a cortadito. Drink, dance, stay on sobe and it will be a great, romantic getaway for you both!

Was in Miami this past weekend. I ate at Michales Genuine Food and Drink- very good! I hear that Yardbird is good, too.

I used to live in DC and now live in Miami. You could easily spend five days here.

If you stay at a nice hotel on South Beach, it won't be too noisy. However, driving on SB is kind of a pain. Which hotel are wedding guests staying at -- I'm guessing it's in Coral Gables? My inclination would be to stay there and drive over to SB for a day.

In terms of restaurants, there are tons of good places. Let me know a little more about what you like to eat, what price range, etc. In general, I think Eater has good recommendations: http://miami.eater.com/maps/the-38-essential-miami-restaurants-july-2014

I second the recommendations for Vizcaya and Shark Valley/Everglades (*definitely* take the tram tour!).

You will want a rental car. Public transportation in Miami is pretty bad. If you stay on SB, you won't need a car, except to visit some of the attractions.

I love being on the water, so I recommend a boat tour. A walking tour of Little Havana would be fun and unusual.
