This is the warmest coat I've ever owned. It's been suggested by several others on dcum as well. It keeps me so warm that I often don't bother zipping it up. And it's not bulky or puffy at all.

I have this and it is great. I used it in Chicago when the windchill was something ridiculous like -10 and it was wonderful. Wearing it here last week was toasty too. On warmer days here, I have taken the outer shell off and just used the liner. Very nice as well.

I got a Lands End puffer on eBay for $15 or so last winter when I couldn't take the cold. I got the shoulders taken in by a tailor for a less boxy fit (about $60 more).

It is incredibly warm and I get a surprising number of compliments on it.

Lands End really isn't my usual style - slightly more urban hipster, I suppose, is the obnoxious way you'd describe my more usual style - so I guess I would say don't rule those coats out.

But you should also check out Soia and Kyo for more actually stylish coats that will be both work and weekend-appropriate.
