I have a thing against electricity near my bed.

What about those fluffy wool mattress pads? Saw a few in catalogs. They must retain heat quite well, no?

I'm obsessed. The heated blankets were always scratchy. I can't sleep without it. Our favorite thing is to turn the heat down and crank up the electric mattress pad. Cool faces and warm bodies!

They are low voltage. I leave mine on a night and and it automatically switches off at 12 hrs. They are better than the electric blankets IMO

Why is the mattress pad better? A blanket seems more versatile. You can use the blanket under you or on top of you.

Mine turns off automatically - keeps it from being a fire hazard. The first year I had one, I was pregnant and it definitely kept my joints from being so achy it was nice!

Just don't sleep with it on. It is meant to heat the bed then you let your body heat keep the bed warm.

Is it a fire hazard at all? If not, will get some for everyone's rooms.

This is me as well! I love it to be cold at night as I over heat once I fall asleep. That said, I like the idea of entering a toasty bed so the PP who turned it on an hour before bed and then turned it off, had a great suggestion! As much as I like it to be cold while I sleep, I don't over heat UNTIL I am asleep, prior to that I like to be all bundled up.

Electric blanket is good too. I turn it on before bedtime, and then off when i get into bed. Thermostat on 60 at night. Warm bed plus duvet, cool air. Heaven.

This is the stuff of dreams for someone with a low BMI and poor circulation. I have been going to bed with two hot water bottles for years now. Thanks for the heads up!
