Aspergers characteristics have been around in people forever, as have all kinds of variations, none of which seem to have any overwhelming advantages that would lead to them overrunning the world.

My ex comes from a long line of Aspies, and has produced more of them. They have their niche in society. They're not breeding like Duggars, though.

I know a few people who have been diagnosed with Aspergers. I get along with them well enough, but if that's the next step in evolution, this isn't the world for me.

I'm making a total over generalization here, but I have thought before that the Mormons will be around long after the rest of us have died off from alcohol or caffeine, stds and their related cancers, stress and isolation vs. faith and community... All the Mormons I have met just seem so happy and healthy, and tall. Granted, I don't know a huge sample, but it's noticeable. Not advocating for Mormonism, just an observation.

Being prosocial is super important for human learning, survival, and reproduction. As someone pointed out, evolution selects for those who reproduce and whose offspring survive to do the same. Beyond what contributes on a basic level to surviving and reproducing, evolution does not select for intelligence, success, wealth, morality, etc etc.

I had a human anthropology professor who said he believed it was the beginnings of the new stages of evolution. He said he had aspergers, but I think he was just a dick who wanted to think himself the penuchle of human evolution.

My kid's with Asperger's eye contact is normal. Poor eye contact is not necessary for an Asperger's diagnosis.

That said, poor social skills is not a step up in human evolution.
