I believe this poster is correct. However, since the District opted out of NCLB (and the federal gov't was paying for this transportation), my understanding is that the city agreed to pick up the cost for the buses for those kids that were already in the program (not incoming or new students who qualified). From what I was told, this program is being phased out. To my knowledge, there are no parent groups paying for charter buses going to WOTP DCPS schools. The buses most of you are referring to are these NCLB city funded buses. If someone else has more knowledge of this, please correct and clarify me.

That bus could be for the afterschool program at Jeleff. The only buses that run across the park are for Wilson and Deal. Not elementary.

DCPS contracts with bus companies that do not always use yellow school buses.

A bus like that used to go to Hearst (my child is older now so I'm not sure if it is still in use). I assumed it was arranged by parents.[/quote]

No. DCPS contracts with bus companies that may not look like traditional yellow school buses. But these are indeed DCPS buses. There are no parent-arranges buses at Hearst.

What makes you think she is NOT in NW, PP? EOTP does not mean NE, SE, or SW. It means EOTP.

The reality is that DC pays lip service to a neighborhood based school system, but in reality mostly operates a city-wide lottery school system. So it should accept reality and establish a system of buses to take students from where they live to the schools they want to attend, which are mostly in NW.
