Usually I go out of my way to avoid him, but having to be around him for several hours, and my passive aggressive grandmother, is just awful. He comes from a wealthy family and they have used their wealth to screw my mother over and were so cruel to all of us. So he will know if I cancel. I know I need to move out, and I am trying to get the money together, but I have bad credit and it's hard. I just know they will all talk behind my back if I don't go and it sucks.

You need to get friends to invite you to these things so you have a plausible excuse for not being home. And get out as soon as you can.

New poster here. She is an adult. He owes her nothing. Quite the opposite. If she is living in his house she owes him to at least pretend to tolerate his family. If she doesn't like him and his family she should move out.

Skip it and let them talk. Soon enough you will move out and not have to deal with them anymore. Sorry you are in this position OP, it sounds rough.

I agree. Their talking about you is much better than their talking at you in unhealthy ways.

Best wishes for an easier 2015, out of his house.
