I doubt that many people will get your son and your cousin's son mixed up.

Ages, please .
If your son is 17 and is named John Peter after a relative, and your cousin is pregnant and had the same relatives , then not such a big deal.
For example my grandfather and unless share a name . If I named my baby after my grandfather and my cousin named her baby after Her father , yes, they would have the same name. Further, she is 15 years years younger than me.
However if you and your cousin had babies a year part and both named them Finnegan Jaxon, no rhyme or reason , then yes that would be strange

Extremely annoying, OP. My niece's name is within my daughter's name. Something like Liana and Ana and they did the same for their son. Annoying, but oh well.

Very odd... unless you are Scottish in which case we only use the same four names for everyone in a family.
