buy him a gun safe. we have 4 firearms, it is a hobby and fun.

Kids can figure out safes. Did you drink while you were pregnant too?

Kids don't figure out combination gun safes. You are ridiculous.

+1. I forgot the combo to our safe that has our passports and other important docs. My husband was not available. I even went out and bought a stethoscope to try to listen for the clicks. Didn't work. Our combo is not a birthday or anything so I had no idea of where to even begin.

It's a hobby. You all need to buy a gun safe. We have ours in our bedroom disguised as a full length mirror. We also have the ammo in a lock box in the garage. So obviously they are not for protection but my husband shoots them at ranges for a hobby.

We have guns and kids over constantly. No one has ever asked.

They are in the safe which I can't even open much less the kids.

OP you will be fine. But clearly you should divorce him.

Seriously? There's no way I'd risk my kids getting shot.

Buy him a gun safe and a separate ammo safe. Even if he wants a gun for self defense, I keep the gun in a locked gun box in my bedroom and the loaded clip in a locked gun box in my bedroom. Hunting rifles are in the gun safe and all other ammo is in a second safe.

DO NOT DO THIS.

Do not tell ANYONE -- not even the pediatrician, who has absolutely no need to know -- about it. It is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS.

Cue the gun nuts.

Make sure your kids are very well educated in gun safety. Send them to a hunter's class. Limit them to handling smaller weapons. Nothing automatic.

My pediatrician asks if we keep guns in the house and encourages us to ask for play dates. I would never let me children over to your house.
