I did notice a lot of liberals on this site who were very concerned about Ebola - perhaps Jeff wants to include them in his mockery?
Personally, I understand why people were worried - it's simply human nature. You are concerned for yourself, for your loved ones, and it feels terribly out of your control. People like to feel in control.
Cue Glenn Beck: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/glenn-beck-finally-has-his-screaming-meltdown-over-ebola
He didn't literally say the sky is falling, but he said that this would "literally be the death of all of us".
I listen to him every day. He did not say Ebola itself would be the death of us all. He said the idiocy surrounding Ebola will be the death of us all. He specifically said that he wasn't worried about Ebola itself and he is living in Dallas.
From the article:
"so naturally he spent a good portion of his radio program today having a screaming meltdown about how government incompetence is "literally going to be the death of all of us" and declaring that millions of Americans should be gathering in protest outside of the White House, demanding a ban on travel from West African nations'
He was mighty pissed at the fallout that poor nurse took for trying to do the right thing regarding calling the incompetent CDC. He was also pissed off that private businesses were affected by this whole thing (cleanup, fear, etc). People forgot about those affected by the President's decision and the money spent as a result.

Politifact's "Lie of the Year" for 2014 is various exaggerations about ebola. I think it is pretty funny that some of DCUM's regular right-wing posters were prolific spreaders of these lies, including spreading them on DCUM. It would be nice to see a few of them admit their error and, maybe, learn from it. But, I won't hold my breath.
We will likely be told that Politifact is a Marxist front operation that is the propaganda wing of IS, etc., etc.. Of course, we will be told this by the same people who routinely remind us that Politifact's 2013 Lie of the Year was Obama's "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it" statement.
Excuse me... I'm a "right winger" with a medical background who also attempted to come on here and calm the hysteria... I got flamed. I think it's unfair of you to claim it was just "right wingers" spreading the panic here.
I don't remember any on the left spreading the specific lies mentioned by Politifact. You are correct that a couple of liberals wet their pants and wanted to hide under their beds, but that is a separate issue.
Politfact doesn't mention that the President was told in early Sept. that Ebola would reach our shores if he did nothing. Indeed it did. That little detail was hidden from the public.
I will say the way you treated people who frequent your forum, who you ask to keep ads enabled so you can make money, was pretty shabby. Indeed your comment above reflects that. If you are going to ask people to keep ads enabled, might I suggest that you treat others with respect so they actually care whether or not you make a living at this?
If I don't make a living at this, you won't be able to come here and troll me and spread the gospel according to Beck and Breitbart. So, you should keep ads enabled out of self-interest.
The President never denied that ebola might reach our shores. His position always was that it could be contained as, indeed, it was. I remember a certain poster being so convinced that ebola was spreading that she accused the government of not being truthful about the numbers of infected people.

The best media report on Ebola that actively calmed my fears was from Fox News reporter Shepherd Smith when I almost succumbed to ebola hysteria and considered cancelling travel.
Here's the clip, the reporter did an amazing job explaining Ebola.

I think its good that free market medicine tamped this down. In spite of the CDC and Obama.
You progressives think it was about ebola itself. Truth is, it is larger than that. This was a clear example of how government cant handle crisis, and can actively create it
So Obama's Ebola czar's manipulation of the media happened via free market? No. When the hysteria was raging out of control, the government stepped in and calmed the waters. It worked beautifully.
