"Try for a girl." Why don't you ask them if that is the same as picking a puppy?

If your boys overhear them asking about a girl, you should say you are incredibly happy with your boys and don't feel like you need a daughter to be complete.

Honestly, just say "no". That's it. You don't want to open discussion on it and using more words does just that.

I have two boys 2 years apart and people asked the same question until the youngest was 5. My answer was "No, but I wouldn't say no if one was left on my doorstep." or "If we were, we would be trying for the lefthanded redhead I was promised". (DH and I are both lefthanded as were 2 of 4 grandparents, My DH, sister and father were redheads. Both boys are righties and not redheads- although their beards lean red)

In your situation, you could say "We have our hands full at the moment, how about those Seahawks do you think they will repeat?."

Just be direct. If SIL asks "sooooo, are you in the process of trying for that baby girl yet?" You respond "No, and listen, please don't ask me about it anymore. I'll let you know when we make a decision about the embryos."

If you must, you can offer a reason ("I'm already stressed out about it enough, and don't want to talk about it until we decide what we're going to do.") BUT I think most people understand that if they're asked to shut up about something, it's because they're being annoying.

Don't get the problem. We did PGD and tried for and got our boy. If someone asks and you don't want to talk about it, just politely say so.

Wear a beaded necklace. Next time they ask, say, brightly, "Oh, we found a much better use for the embryos!" Finger your necklace, smile winningly, and walk away.
