I wouldn't have balked at this as a kid (had sister 3 years and another 9 years younger), even with my cousins. I'd have thought that for a family gathering it was a perfectly fine "tribal" thing to do... if I liked the dress.

I get coordinating dresses off of www.zulily.com , but have to search and start early. Generally, I consider the taste of the oldest kid as the starting point. They're pickier and the younger ones are okay with emulating the "cool" older kids.

Kellys kids or Bella bliss

I still match my kids on holidays and my son is 10. He just has to wear a sweater or button down the same colors as the girls, and only to church/brunch.
He does it because he is sweet and he knows I love it.

How about a theme instead of an exact match?

Red dresses? Sweater dresses?

All of my bridesmaids wore different shades of purple (lilac, lavender, deep plum) that suited their skin tone and dress shapes that fit their style. It looked great, all in harmony, but everyone also looked comfortable.

This is a time when the girls are coming into their own uniqueness. Allow them that.

They'll appreciate it.

My aunt did this to her 6 children every christmas. Even as the oldest was a teen she had to match. Now she is estranged from 4/6.

OP, I bet you pinch the kids hard on the cheek and crush them against your mothball-scented bosom each visit, and give them each one dollar and a linty hard candy when you leave.

Does the 14 year old even wear kids clothes anymore? Some of those dresses don't really accommodate a bust line.

Even my very laid back 14 YO would be horrified at that suggestion (maybe polite enough not to mention it but she'd certainly think it is stupid and never wear it again).

I dont dress my girls alike! Because of a 2 year gap, something appropriate for one looks silly on the other. Coordinating I've done though

I have the oldest of 4 girl cousins (6 year age range) and my MIL does like to buy matching things when she sees them. I can tell you that my oldest (13, will be 14 next week) will wear them for a visit with the family (where we don't leave MIL's house) but will NEVER wear them after that....this has been true for at least 2 or 3 years now. I say go with coordinating or matching accessories if you really want to do this. Or pjs as suggested above.

I am the oldest of eight and my Mother used to dress the three girls alike until I was probably about 10, and looking at movies etc. it was a lot of fun in early years as we all had long curls, but we were sisters. I think for a related family photo if that is your idea, it is time to skip the dresses and, if anything, perhaps a cordinated top - not all exactly alike that could be worn with blue jeans if you really want a photo. For what it is worth, my five brothers (seven years apart) also dressed alike at times in terms of khakis, white shirts and navy jackets. We have twin granddaughters and I must say it was fun to choose identical, traditional Christmas dresses for them this year as the other MIL usually does the shopping on great sales year round, and I had had the pleasure of shopping for three girls while she only had one son.

OP, I'd probably check with the 14-year-old, but if she doesn't hate the idea, I'd ignore the haters here.

No ideas on where to get the dresses, though.
