They think the ladies like it and it becomes a routine. Seriously. DH had to tell his dad to tone it down a bit.

My sister asked if she could buy Axe body spray for my 9 yo for Christmas. I politely declined, but was left marveling that there is a market for that sh!t.

My father went through a period of time, probably in his late 50s, when he doused himself with cologne on a daily basis. I think someone said something to him (glad it didn't have to be me) because he eventually discontinued the practice.

In my 20s I DID have to say something to my Italian boyfriend about his overuse of cologne. That was awkward, but he stopped immediately.

I don't know what's going on with your FIL. Is it possible he has incontinence issues and is trying to mask the smell?

Really? I'm 29 and have not experienced this amongst my friends. Most do not wear any type of scent.

You think, as a 29 yo, you're the demographic this poster is referring to?

I was thinking the same thing. My good friend who HS aged boys always talks about half of her house reeking of Axe. Haha.

My dad wears a lot of scent for a man, or heck, for a woman. He's a 70s era, Norther NJ, Saturday Night fever holdover.

My FIL does this too. And after he holds my DD she smells like him for hours. It's kinda gross, kinda amusing. He's a lovely man, though, so we just go with it...
