First of all, wearing a jacket is not a battle I ever choose to engage in. I only insist on taking a jacket, whether it not the kid wears it is up to her. If she wants to not wear it and be cold, fine.

Secondly, parents ARE annoying. I'd acknowledge that and admit to remembering how annoying it seemed to always have my mother telling me what to do. Would not slap.

I'm pretty strict about showing respect. My kids wouldn't dare call me an ugly name or refuse to do something I asked them to do. But calling me "annoying"? That's not really disrespectful. I'm sure I am annoying sometimes.

For what it's worth, I am the mom of three college and two high school kids. I truly hope I annoyed them when they were younger.

This is just a kid testing his boundaries. Let him know that its not appropriate to say that to you, but its a word he's heard someone else use: either you or another authority figure. If he continues, then punish him.

Do not worry about Child Services coming to my house. We do not have drama in my home. My kids excel in school and they are well looked after. I know how to parent.
