PP here, and you're right - women can be just as bad as guys. Personally, I found it rude and annoying. This was back when texts were fairly new, and I never really have understood the obsession. I'm 39, so maybe I'm an old crank.

Some people get nervous on the phone, especially when they are first getting to know someone. If you have that kind of anxiety, texting is just easier (at least until you reach a comfort level with the other person). I think that's a big part of why people text.

Also, it's easier to avoid lulls in the conversation on the phone or awkwardness. When I was dating, I'd like to make plans via email. I just felt like it was easier. I'm indecisive by nature, so on the phone, I'd get all flustered and say "I don't know" a lot. For some reason, it was easier for me to nail down a time and a place in written form than in verbal form.

Fast forward, I'm married now, and my husband knows well that if he wants a hard answer (a specific date, a time, a place), he's better off emailing or texting me

It's happened several times to me and my single friends. You can't tell if they're OBOing you (Or Better Offer aka trying to juggle more women than they can handle/keep straight) or if they are just naturally ditzy.

29 man here. I do OBO however women my age mid twenties to 31/32 play FOMO as as well so it is an issue of both sides playing Mutually Assured Destruction.

If i tell a woman, "hey lets get coffee this week or a drink sometime" then most likely i do string it out until the last minute.

However, if i say "I want to take you out on thurs at xxxxtime at such and such place and then go and do this" or "lets meet for brunch and then go do xxxx activity at this place and time". Essentially making concrete plans that include a location, time, and day - then it is obvious i have put thought into wanting to see you and have made it a priority. In this case I have never flaked in my life and have always kept up my end.

once dated a guy who used to call overweight women "cows" and was pretty awful in general about appearance (he was super into his own appearance). Even though I was 115# at the time, I got the impression that he would always be hyper critical of my weight, and I found his behavior boorish, so I dumped him.

Being late. Ditched one guy who didn't leave his apt until after the agreed pickup time. It was so annoying to wait (I'm not one of those girls who keeps the guy waiting while still getting ready)
