I know they are strongly looking at Spanish and Mandarin due to the presence of Ward 5 immersion charters. But apparently it will be up to the principal to make the final decision on languages, according to the community meeting.

They aim to have the principal hired by Christmas.

Kid is currently At a DCI feeder and live in Woodridge/Brookland area. I am interested in knowing the languages that will be ofered and at what level. The commute will be so, so much better. I am hopelessly optimistic.

Are you referring to the high school or the middle school? The high school has been solid for years; where did you find the scores for the middle school? Its not on the DCPS school site.

I'm interested in knowing more specifics about the academics. Will there be classes for advanced students? Will there be a strong math and science curriculum? These can both be done within an 'arts integration' program.

Langley feeds into McKinley MS. It is right next door to Mckinley. LaSalle maybe in Ward 4, but it is close enough to Brookland to feed into Brookland. Feeder schools are not separated by the wards. As Browne MS is located in Ward 5, but a Ward 6 ES feeds into Browne.

There is no Ward 6 elementary that feeds into Browne for middle school. Browne is an ed campus, not a separate middle school.

Langdon and Langley are in the "programmatic" feeder path to McKinley MS and then onto Woodson HS as STEM schools. In the DME documents released this summer, only Noyes, Bunker Hill, and Burroughs boundary students are consider InBounds for Brookland MS.

We're a Ward 5 family with two elementary-school kids in a charter school. I'm hopeful for this new school, I really am. But I'll also wait long after the paint is dry to make any claims about how likely we are to enroll. We'll have to see how the school is actually run, what discipline philosophy it's adopting and practicing (and whether there's a divide between the two), and whether they bring in not just experienced (as in years worked) but engaged leadership and teachers.

You are thinking of Langley. Langdon is at around 22nd NE south of Rhode Island.
