YES! It is crazy-but if it makes you and your wife feel good/better about who you are, then by all means go for it!

Guess I'm on the wrong thread or maybe we bought the wrong appliances. A fridge never made me feel better about who I am. Does it give you and affirmation when you make a good beverage choice?

I prefer to do a ton of product research and spending money for quality and longevity, not for show or for something I won't necessarily use. This means that an expensive brand might work for my neighbor but not for myself or vice-versa.

So only you and your wife can judge whether your purchases are excessive!

My parents have all Miele appliances. I have all Samsung. We both live in neighborhoods where tiny homes sell for $1M+. We are both happy.

Our house (worth roughly $1.2) has a Wolf oven and micro, Sub Zero fridge, and GE Monogram range and dishwasher.

It was all about what fit properly in the space. FWIW, the Sub Zero is 7 years old, no issues.

Agree with the price ranges and yes on the Wolf. A BIG no on the Sub Zero (they break down constantly)and the Bosch--read Consumer Reports.
Boschs don't have heaters (you'll have spots on your dishes), they're small and awkward to load.

Yes - these appliances are crazy. I own a $1.2 million home and I like nice things in my kitchen, but I think you end up regretting most of these purchases. I am a pretty serious cook (attended cooking school), and I would not think of picking those fridge and range. Those are extremely unreliable and non-functional brands. I suspect that she is probably going for a particular look, but that fridge is not going to offer any additional features and benefits and will be much less reliable than a less expensive brand. I have a separate upright freezer and refrigerator units that give me a lot more functionality and greater wow value in a kitchen. If you don't have space for that, just measure the opening and get the biggest frig. you can fit. You will be much happier.

And the reviews for the Blue Star ranges are brutal (they have extremely high failure rates). You also will have a really hard time finding a technician for a niche brand. I have been much happier with major brands. Also, I have burned my hands on the outside of a commercial-type oven doors (they get extremely hot) and would not them anywhere near my kids.

I can't say anything about the hood (depends how much air it draws out and how much quiet the motor operates) or dishwasher.

In the end, you have to ask yourself what you really value.

Sounds totally reasonable to me. We spent about that in our $1.3m house.

10,000 appliances sound ridiculous to me.

That's like ours, although our sub zero was more like $8-9k and wolf cooktop, wall oven, microwave, warming drawer combo was more like $10-11k. We got a Miele DW but at about the same price as a Bosch.

I went with best in class that offered the right size and configuration for my design. Sun zero fridge, la Cornue range, GE advantium, and GE dishwashers. Love everything

Don't get a Bosch, it's become a mid range brand. Get a Miele or an Asko.

If you buy those appliances it's totally a status thing and has nothing to do with functionality and top quality for the money. So it depends on how you prioritize your money and what you value.
