We went to the same place for my daughter when she was eight. A woman did the piercings. It's a pleasant, whitebread kind of place, and the people take great care in what they do.

If you're in Maryland, Hannah at Tattoo paradise in Rockville is great. I got pierced by her.

Call ahead to Claire's. Ask when they'll have two employees working. Go them. Pierce both at once. Extremely easy.

I got mine done when I was 4, after begging for a year. When DD was about 6 I was like "hey, did you want your ears pierced?" and she didn't. So about once a year I'd check in with her, and when she was a few months shy of 11 she felt ready and eager to do it.

A guy with a ton of piercings and tattoos pierced her ears. He was super nice and gentle and went over with her how to clean them, and it's now a year later and DD considers it to have been a great experience.

I would never have taken her to Claires. I'm super conservative in appearance and all "Oh my!" at things, but called up a good tattoo place for an appointment immediately upon DD saying she wanted it done. Claires piercings are done by college-age girls who watch a video and consider that their training.

Did I read this right? You, as a 3 year old, begged your parents to have your ears pierced for a year? Just checking.

I think I begged for earrings, not necessarily to get my ears pierced. But yeah. Despite being quite a tomboy, as a little girl I really loved jewelry.

I was at Claire's on one busy Saturday with one employee in attendance. A couple came in with their dd to get her ears pierced, and they ran around and hemmed and hawed. I think there was some deal about a gift card or coupon or something. Meanwhile, the line got longer, and the girl and parents and sales clerk went around the store for stuff. They ended up not getting it done at that time due to some sort of misunderstanding on the gift certificate or something. But I felt like it was such a stressful experience with the small, cramped store and all the people in line with one harried sales clerk.

People that did piercings at Claire's, did your dd have a good experience, or was it rushed and harried like what I was witnessing?

I am inclined to do the tattoo parlor. I am a bit judgy on tattoos, but my niece has so many, and she often posts how the parlors won't let her get a tattoo because she just had one or because she's pg, and it seems like they do abide by safety standards and have training.

Claire's as well. No troubles. And I thought about Dr or tattoo parlor as well but Claire's was way less hassle and more low key.

Took my 9 year old to Claire's. Very professional, and if you call ahead, you can find out when they will have 2 people working and they can pierce both ears at the same time.

Our ped recommended Claire's. The earings are in separate single use packages, its not a loud gun anymore.Simple, sterile and almost pain free. No infections, no issues at all 2 years later. Clear instructions.
