Class is full. You will have to wait. Very popular with magnet kids.

You may be one of those ignorant parents who know nothing about what your kid does at school. They are playing Bingo in the magnet program. As they drop the standards and the bright kids get bored you need to do something.

They who? And how do you know this? You haven't answered that question.

I hope they do get rid of them. The bussing to and from just to increase some poor schools grades is ridiculous. If the schools just taught the right way, we wouldn't need them and all the BS that comes with it.

Sounds good on the surface but I am suspicious.

Amen.

All the notes and press following Starr's recent Townhall show that he is focused on ESL and the achievement gap. They already have run their budget into the ground so now it will come from other programs.

The Blair magnet program has been gutted by the principal who behaves like a teenager. Kids in the one of the most prestigious programs are now being asked, get this: to play BINGO. Until parents take a aggressive action to stop the gutting of the program in the name of closing the gap the gutting of magnet programs will continue. Wake up people!!

Oh look, the Blair troll is here! Good morning!

Hello low expectations troll!!! When you can't deny the reality just start the name calling!

The truth is that the Blair magnet is a joke. Bingo? Seriously?!

What's the context? Bingo is used all the time as a fun way to reinforce concepts in math, foreign language, science, etc. I've seen Bingo used as a school fundraiser. You'll need something a little more convincing than "students play bingo" to support your argument here.

In which high school magnet have you seen them use Bingo to reinforce math concepts? And, you are okay with that? In a magnet program??

According to the RFP, which was linked earlier, they are checking to see if the programs 1) still meet their original purpose, 2) are equitable in their admissions criteria and 3) advance the general mission of MCPS.

Given the range and diversity of the programs available, this seems smart. For example, why is it OK for some immersions to have neighborhood preference in admissions and not others? Is it really better for the broad range of MCPS (all 150K+ kids) to have a handful of selective programs? Would there be a benefit to provide greater enrichment home schools to more kids?

Also, the transportation costs are not negligible. In the RCF program they bus kids from all over the county down to a school basically at the DC border. That cannot be equivalent to going to your neighborhood school up in Gaithersburg.

These seem like actually very good questions to ask.

First let's establish who, specifically, is asking kids in which one of the most prestigious programs, specifically, to play bingo, not to mention how the PP knows this.
