You could also cover some of the green with blackboards for drawing, or corkboards for pinning up artwork. And frame pictures the kids have done, arranged nicely on another wall. I like the cherry tree decal idea.

What do you mean, a waste? It will cost you barely $100 in supplies to repaint. Labor-wise, it's an hour to tape and an hour to paint. Can you really not spare a couple of hours and a hundred bucks?

Depending upon the ages of your kids, you could do a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme. Oopsy daisy website has some cute canvases and decals (I think). They actually have a very nice selection of Eric Carle products. I bought three different canvas bears (brown, polar, panda) for our playroom and the walls will be a light green.

OP again - yes - I know that pic isn't a "wall" thing, but I'm going to see if I can make something like it for the wall.

As for just painting it, I have nothing against painting (and did PLENTY in old house), but the previous owners literally JUST painted the room so the walls are fresh an clean. It's also not going to be something I live with for much time on a day to day basis, so I"m not going to bother. Trust me - if the Master bedroom was this color, it would have already been changed!!)

I'm thinking I'm going to take a combinations of all the suggestions... turn it into a kind of tree house room (there's one really big window that looks out to trees, so it will work well! I'll get some cherry blossom tree decals and scatter a bunch of frames in the "leaves" so that the kids can put whatever artwork they want up on the wall. Something like this (of course, there's a more than decent chance this will be a pintrest fail, but whatever...)




A bookcase, some navy or grey chairs of some kind (maybe beanbags or some other squishy kids chair) and toy boxes and we should be all set.



I could always use more ideas. so please feel free to suggest anything else!

The green reminded me of a blog post. See the playroom in the link. White can break it up. Why not some white Ikea billy bookcases to hold toys and books? An ikea expedit/kallix to serve as a bench?
