My husband and I nearly always forgot our own anniversary.

So no, I don't expect anyone else to remember it, and I don't expect to remember other people's!!!

Who are these people so uptight about these things? Relax and enjoy your lives, for God's sake.

I barely even remember my own anniversary.

I congratulate my parents on milestone anniversaries. That's about it.

+1 I have no clue, and I don't care. I'm lucky if I remember mine. I pay attention only to birthdays and have to write those down too LOL

The only exception is when kids throw a 50th anniversary party for their parents. Otherwise anniversaries should only be celebrations between spouses. I think it would be quite weird to get a gift for our anniversary from anyone other than my husband (and we typically don't do gifts - just dinner or a night at a hotel).

I usually informally acknowledge my parents (text, FB message, mentioning it if I'm already calling them about something else). I think I might have given them a small gift on their 30th, but that is unusual. They don't care. Their acknowledgement of our anniversary is similar. My MIL always sends a card (she does for EVERYTHING). Pretty sure my DH doesn't acknowledge theirs, I doubt he even knows when it is.

I always acknowledge my parents' anniversary - card and usually a gift (they're anniversary is NYE so I usually find a Christmas ornament). My mom would get upset if I didn't. Mom also sends us a card and sometimes a restaurant GC for our anniversary. DH's parents don't acknowledge their own anniversary so we also don't do anything for them. The only anniversary they've acknowledged of ours was last year (our 10 year) with flowers sent to our hotel and they were at our house watching the kids for a night getaway - it was sweet!

I only care if DH remembers it. Growing up my sister and I wanted to acknowledge our parent’s but my mom always said it was between my Dad and her. However, after we were much older and had families of our own and my parents were retired, we would send flowers or a card most years and on their 50th we sent yard flamingos- they loved that (we also upgraded their room when they went on a trip near their anniversary). My mom really appreciated it in the last decade or so.

if I had my way, Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays for people over 18, and all anniversaries but your own would be abolished. My husband feels the same.

Drives us nuts. We are expected to make a bigger deal about my dad's anniversary than we do about our own?

Anniversary is for DH and I, only. I do not expect anyone else to acknowledge us for it. I don't congratulate my dad on his anniversary or my siblings, and we are all very close!

So to be clear.. I've always sent my parents a card or got them something nice for their anniversary. Same with my inlaws. They didn't acknowledge ours though, it was our one year. So it's cool then if I just forget remembering theirs and stop sending a gift? Why do I need to recognize theirs if they don't need to remember mine.
