Quality nannying with a little something extra for the spank bank. Win-win.

I had a really handsome contractor! His crew cut corners and some were downright incompetent, but he was so charming and statuesque that DH and I gave him a lot more chances than he deserved. Beautiful/charming people are more successful because they're given the benefit of the doubt.

This. It's perfectly natural to choose the most attractive candidate that meets your needs, whether you're doing it consciously or not.

I'm getting an AP and my DH has declared on numerous times that he wants a hot Scandinavian. So, no shit, of course your DH interviewed on looks.

Possibly.

You will never really know since you didn't get a chance to see the entire pool of candidates who actually applied for the position however. Perhaps only attractive young girls only applied.

Did his nanny wanted ad specify that he wanted someone such as a college-aged nanny? If so, then yes, it would seem he was specifically looking for a younger demographic.

If it really is bothering you, then ask him.

Thank god for Title VII. It drives me crazy when I'm in Latin America and I see an employment ad that says "se busca muchacha con buena presentación" or something like that.

Legislation merely ensures that there is no blatant discrimination but from a practical standpoint hiring is influenced by their own biases.

My DH picked for interviews: a younger girl (who I did not think was pretty even though she was thin with blonde hair), an older woman and a (hot) guy.

Do you think he picked her for nanny qualities?

DW here. For our boat, I hired the most qualified man who happened to be the best looking. For my nannies, I've hired the most competent who were also the best looking.

This. Eye candy. Why not get someone easy on the eyes? Then there is also the prospect, even if far fetched, that a sexual relationship could result. It can spice up the married relationship.

I hired a cute nanny. Be prepared for your husband to check her out. I would steal glances anytime I could. She was 25 with a petite frame. She used to wear yoga pants, making me drool. Too bad she moved on after earning her college degree and now we are stuck with a grandma looking lady.

Make no mistake. She may have been hired for her qualification about she got picked to inteview because of her looks. Your husband is one clever bastard!

If she's over 18, she's not a girl, she's a woman.

Dw here...my DH commented on how good looking our contractors were. Word got around and then all of my friends kept popping by our dump of a house to check out those hot guys I hired. It was fun to have a little eye candy.

Agreed, all things being equal, some eye candy > someone who is unpleasant to look at.
