^^ of course she is not customer service oriented. She has made it clear that individual families will easily be replaced because demographics are on her side -- yound DC residents will have children. What she doesn't realize is that many may also opt for the suburbs.

I think Kaya needs to go. Her Chief of Staff was notified of misrepresentations regarding safety made by a principal and wouldn't even respond. Another person in DCPS central said kiss off. The attitude is not customer focused or transparent. DCPS is never going to get better unless there is material reform at all levels. This adversely affects the District and its neighborhoods. I'm tired of my EOTP neighbors moving because the schools are crappy.

My sense he would keep her if she'd agree to acknowledge that he's the boss. The reality is that Gray has never taken the reins so she's never really had to report to anybody before...

Other-that is-than Catania, when he began pursuing serious oversight. After a couple of bumpy months in which she had to adjust to answering tough, probing questions and compiling and making public tons of data, they actually started to have a better relationship.

Voted for Catania myself. But still worried about whether he will keep Kaya Henderson in place. Their relationship hasn't been easy. And I think she's the right person for that Job at this critical point. Those who know more: what do you think?

More middle class families have more confidence in Catania because he seems willing to shake things up. Not in a self-promoting Rhee-Fenty public relations sort of way, but in a substantive ways like recruiting the right people for the right jobs and focussing on fixes at the school level.

Because of the enthusiasm gap (really, not even the D's like Bowser), this election is going to be very close. If you don't vote, you don't get to complain.

DC parents can be the difference in this race.

Please, Catania doesn't know how to fix the schools. (No one really does.) Until the school system has more middle class families they will languish because schools can't fix a lot of the problems that lead to students' poor performance.

I am a Catania supporter mainly because I think he's the better of two choices. But I believe strongly in neighborhood schools when all things are equal but DC is strongly separate and unequal. He says he will ensure, coordinate, require and align all things neighborhood schools so I am especially anxious to see how he will roll this out.
